I'm planning a trip to the boneyard to pull some front door(s) windows out of a Mounty, and need to know what tools I will need to take with me to the boneyard. I read one thread that said 1/8" drill bit and a 11mm socket. What about a lantern battery and some leads to run the window up or down? Can anyone let me know what to expect? Never pulled glass before.

My windows have some wear scratches, and I want clean ones- because I'm obsessive compulsive. :D Also, what is worn down causing the vertical scratches on the window in the center of the glass from top to bottom, and what needs to be replaced to remedy that?

12 volts and jump wires for the motor you are correct.
A punch to drive out the center of the rivit
a hammer to hit the punch and a 1/4 inch drill to drill out the rivit.
You will also want a phillipsand a pannel popper to remove the door trim pannel

The scratches are likely due to the belt moulding. The belt moulding is the one where the glass meets the door.

Sounds do-able.

I assume that I just hook directly to the leads on the motor, and reverse the hookup for the opposite function? (up/down...)

On reassembly, can I use a bolt to replace the rivet?

Thanx!

You could use a booster pack too. Sheet metal screws should work. Use some Locktite to keep them from getting loose. Screws slightly thicker in diameter than the rivets probably don't need Locktite.

Booster pack- I never thought about that... They're on the cheap right now, so I could get a jumper pack, use it for this, and have it in the car for winter too... Nice tip! Thanx BB!

correct
one way is up switch sides and the other way is down.
cake.
I think that the rivits are the best way to go but not every one owns or can afford a "big daddy " rivit gun.
Nuts and bolts will work as well. Acess might make thing intresting but it could be done.

only thing is if they are electric windows and you take off the motor use an extention on the last bolt that spring FLYS! the first time i did it i about lost my finger and im not exaggerating! be carefull and if you dont have to take the motor off DONT its so much easyer! Good luck.

although i drive a first generation, i had to replace my motor, and i just used nuts and bolts with locktite to put it back in as stated earlier in the thread.

only thing i'm having a problem is the window is slower then it used to be, but it could've been my wiring (cut all wires...i'm an idiot, then repaired it), or maybe cause the motor sat in a junkyard for a while.

but it works better now!!! just got to replace the bearings in the rears now...
