top speed limiter?

[99 Xp8]

Does anyone know if the 99, 5.0 V8 models are equipped with a speedlimiter like my 95 xlt had.
I haven't tried the car at topspeed, but I was just curious.
And what would the topspeed be?
it's a 99 XP8( saleen) AWD, auto, and no further modifications than the exhuast ,airfilter and the suspension.

Welcome to the site!

I'm assuming Saleen messed with the stock computer, but I could be wrong. If they did mess with the stock computer then they probably moved the limiter to whatever the top speed of the stock tires were.

If they didn't mess with the computer at all then the limiter will probably still be there about 108-110 mph.

Remember not to exceed the speed rating of your tires.

in my 97 5.0 X my limiter is at like between 85-90

Gavin... is it really that low? I've had my 97' 5.0 up past 100 a lot... it always cuts out at around (an indicated) 120... My friend in a Maxima with GPS says its about 110 in reality. I just thought your 85-90 sounded kinda conservative.

tried twice.. never did get past 90
first time was goin down a hill on the highway, hit 90.
Slowed down a bit, then gunned it again, and go to around 87 and wouldn't go any faster.
I dunno.. I guess I may have not been tryin hard enough

Completely stock NO MODS I got 100. Though it could do more, but I was just highway driving. GPS Read 99.6 or 99.8 so maybe not quite 100

On my 94 my speedo hit 80 once! Ah, what a slow truck! Off hand, I don't remember if I've hit the limiters.. our '00 5.0 AWD and '02 SOHC have all broken 100 when I've driven... so it's possible... Don't remember pushing them much more... And if I remember the 5.0 was still pulling better than the SOHC up top..

I hit 90 w/the '95...lil scary(dumb me forgot to turn 4auto to 2wd). Haven't tried the 4.6 yet....that will rule!
