Help!!!!!!
I'm afraid to drive my 98 Explorer. 71K.
Engine light on and O/D light blinking. Engine clunks, when downshift. A buddy hooked it up to a diagnostic code checker. P1703 TCC solenoid. After some internet investigation found it is the torque converter clutch solenoid. Does this sound right? Is this something that I can change? I have intermediate auto repair skills, but you never know how good you are until you try.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It's not really hard to replace, especially if you have a 2wd. See this thread. I replaced mine a few months ago and I am no mechanic.

not hard to change at all. expensive though.

maybe cause i have a 4wd or something?
