The ex. has been making a rattling noise on acceleration from 2600 rpm and up. It is coming from the firewall area about where the tranny mates to the engine. I recently had the cam tensioner ONP (00m12) done, and had them check out the noise too. I went with the tech. on a drive, to make sure they heard it. Then they checked it out with a stethescope, and said the noise was coming from the torque converter. Has anyone else had this noise happen to them? If the t/c dies, will it hurt the tranny? Who has had to get their t/c replaced?

Cross your fingers and hope it won't die. If it does go, then the metal shavings will circulate through your tranny and kill it.

if your converter

If your converter goes it will take out your trans.
I would take it to a trans shop and have it checked

Thanks for the info guys. Maybe I'll start saving up for a T/C. Anybody have an idea of how much it will cost to have it replaced? Dont' they have to pull the tranny too?

a converter price is About 137.00 + shipping. and yes they will have to pull the Trans
