Hey all,

So I started fitting my TM's last night (pics in my hot rod thread) but the CD that came with the TM's is dead.

Can anyone help me with the bolts torque values and perhaps the location of the one unusual looking bolt ?
If anyone happens to have a copy of the install online that would be even more awesome.
Obviously it was a lot easier than doing it on an Ex because there is nothing around it, but I'd still like to make sure it's right.

Cheers

That'd make sense.
I'd like to get the torques spot on, and I will probably use some copper gasket spray too, it might be a while befoer I run mine, so I want to give them every chance of sealing up well.

Thanks !

Some places on those headers it is not even really feasible to get a torque wrench on there. I just tightened them down to proper torque on the ones I could reach with a torque wrench. Then I took a test pull on one of the pretorqued bolts. Then once I calibrated my redneck hand torquewrench I tightened the others until I felt they were proper torque.

According to Alldatapro the manifold torque specs are 30 ft/lb. This should be similar to what the TMH stuff says too.

Just get them tight as possible. Some places are impossible to get a torque wrench to. Put locktite on the ends of he bolts, they barely thread into the block. The other members are correct, the stud is for the dipstick mount.

EDIT: To make the EGR tube easier to install, think about a 1" phenolic upper intake manifold spacer.

I am definetely going to leave the EGR tube off until I get a spacer, it seems like the one weak point of the TM kit.

I will just go with the stock torque setting, I am mainly interested in consistency, and mainly wanted to check because of the thick gasket style supplied with the headers.
I might even use some copper gasket spray just to be sure.

I'd still like see the install video if anyone has it in another format.

Thanks everyone !

Throw away those gaskets! That is the one weak point of the headers I think. They get very brittle and crack open easily. I think everyone who has put these headers on has replaced their gaskets. I got some fel pro gaskets from NAPA for a few bucks, they are soft lead, a much better gasket. No leaks since I installed those gaskets. Also, I put some ultra copper RTV on the small gasket between the flanges.

You're right, I'll take the advice, the gaskets are going in the crap tin.
I'll grab some Fel Pro's over the next couple of days and finish the install then.
I am also leaving the EGR tube until I can get a 1' spacer from Summit.
