For some reason it seems like people aren't seeing this, and I don't know why: If you have anything other than a 2WD X the CV joints will get messed up if you do a TT to lift 2" or more. It may apply to lowering as well, not sure.

I have the warrior shackles, adn checked my TBs which are reated "FF" on the sticker in my door. I have a 2WD 98 SOHC. I know I'll get about 1.5" from the shackles in the rear, how much additional height will AALs give me? And I can jack up the TT bigger than 2" b/c its a 2WD, right? My goal is to ride on 32s without trimming, so do I have the green light? I'm mainly concerned about my soft torsion bars, and if I need to get AALs to
boost the rear more. Thanks guys...

I've got a 99 sport 2wd and i fit 32/11.50's pro comp mud terrains on stock rims without rubbing. (Suspension is stock btw) Alot of people told me it wouldn't work but i said f-it i'll just take a sawzall to it if it doesn't. Planning on doing a TT and shackles just for the look.

I have a 4x4 1995 EB Explorer, i am getting ready to lift it and since 95's are crazy and you cant really buy a cheap lift for it i was planning on buying a 3 '' ranger body lift then i will do add-a-leafs and crank torsion bars for the front. I was wondering if the torsion bar cranking has made your explorers ride rougher. (anynone know why a 95 is so hard to find a lift for)

I have a TT and shackles on my 2WD 96 explorer and i wanted to lift it more without getting a body lift. i was going to get AAL in the rear but was wondering if i could crank up the bars more than 2" in the front, ive heard you can with a 2wd and i also have heard you cant.....

hey eveyone, i'm really interested in doing a TT/shackles over the winter break and i have some questions about the rear shackles. i was looking on the internet and i came across someone ford explorer webpage who has done it b4. i noticed in the following pic:

shackle pic

that the shackle is alot more vertical than my factory rear shackles on my 99. also, do they usually stick out as far down as they do in this picture ? do the shackles always wind up this vertical or would i have to muscle them get them that way?

the above pictures belong to Digger196@triad.rr.com

thanks alot people

hey everyone,

when doing a shackle lift in the rear, will the shackles be this vertical and hanging down. pic 1 pic 2 i was looking at the factory shackles and they are no wheres near as vertical as the one in the above picture. btw, should the stock one be this vertical, just a shorter version? thanks alot.

Get longer bolts, but I don't think you want to go much higher than 2" on tt due to excessive wear on the cv joints ;)

Hi Everyone, On an 03 explorer 2 door 4x4, added leaves, tortion is at max on front. Still has nose down feel. Thought ? Need maybe .5 to 1 inch left.

Yes, my shackles look almost identical to his, and the stock shackles do sit way differently compared to the warrior shackles, if I remember correctly I believe the stock is or looks like its sitting at a different angle than the warrior shackle, and yes as I'm sure you know the warrior is quite a bit longer than stock shackle ;)

LONGER TORSION BOLTS did you not see earlier reply? Just replace your original bolts with some longer ones ;)

Shackle Size

Does anyone know the exact size of the shackle in a rear 98 explorer to raise it 2" i think? I want to make them up. I want to install 32" tires underneath. If anyone knows I would like the length, width, thickness and how far are the holes are apart from top to bottom. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
