I need an accurate size on the torsion bar bolt on a 96 X. I have to replace the driver side bolt with a longer one before doing a lift. I have found somewhere on this forumn that the bolt is a M12X1.75X90mm hex head bolt. Is this True? Thank you

That is correct- its VERY hard to find the bolts. They need to be completey threaded. I have a source here in San Diego if you need some. there about $1.50 each.

Fastenal
Look for a fastenal near you, I found one in my town and they got the bolts in pretty quickly.

All I did was drive down there and ordered the bolts using the numbers supplied at the top of the post.

Torsion Bolt

I replaced one i 96 and I bought it from the dealer.

I just broke one, probably as a result of too much leverage on the bolt because they were maxed out. Be careful putting a longer one in. If its just for on road use it should not be a problem though.

Thanks for the info, Baja. I just ordered a set off that site to not have to mess with searching around town. I wanted a spare set anyway before the Moab trip.

No, I still have the stockers. I'm gonna have the extra set in case I break one in Moab.
