Guys there is no clear answer as to what the factory height of our explorers are. From my research each one was a little different. With that said how high is to high when it comes to torsion lift? I've herd 2 inches but 2 inches from what? Stock, from where my old bars sag? I added some longer torsion bolts to level the Explorer and this is the angle of my front axles. Is this in range for proper wear on the axel?

Exactly. No 2 Explorers sit the same. Especially a '97 that is nearly 20 years old now.

But from looking at it, I think you're at a good angle now and have some room to go up if you wanted.

Thanks for your answer. Is there an angle that you know of as being "in range" ? A pinion angle to be exact? If someone had this info it would be very helpful to many who search on this topic. As for me I'm good with my height now that she's leveled out.

As you've read there is no accurate way of measuring "stock" ride height from the fenders to the ground because of tire diameter differences, torsion bar sag, etc. The only factory procedure is measuring the center of the LCA pivot bolt to the spindle bottom. Your AWD spec shows 3.58" to 4.38", a variance of almost one full inch. Agree with 2Timing, visually looking at the LCA angles may be the best method. Did you measure before doing the TT?

No I didn't measure. But if the pinion angle looks about right in my pic I'm not to worried about it. If a slight downward angle on the axel is fine than I fit in that category.

That looks fine to me. On my 96 I have 34.5" from the bottom of my fender to the ground and that's sitting on 235/75/15's. I started at 33" and at 35" I didn't like the angle so backed it off.

Oh and get limit straps if you want to preserve your CV's life. I don't care what anyone here says, both my 96 and my 99 bind up under WOT pulls or over hills where the suspension unloads. Soon as I put limit straps on my vibration and binding went away. 8 inches above my tires to my fenders my CV's started to bind, my straps are set to prevent my truck from lifting the front end more than 7.5-7.75".

Here's how I installed my straps.
