Well I went and baught a new plug adapter for my tow wiring and I am not getting any power out of my factory plug. The truck never had an adapter on it and I was the first one to take off the factory cover on the factory tow plug. I was wondering if there is a fuse or if anyone can sugest anything for me to do to fix this. I was towing a trailor today with no lights because I couldn't figure it out. Please help. I don't want to have to hard wire it. I know how to I just don't want to.

Thanks for any info in advance.....:salute:

I have the same problem too, but I figured out how to fix mine. If you look on mine, there is a red power wire going into the relay box (or whatever you want to call it) for the harness was broken. I simply found the other half of it, and re-connected it. No idea how this happened, but it might not be a bad idea to look under there and check all of your wires, make sure they are secure and not broken..

Look at yours where? I don't know if the 2nd gen is the same as the 1st gen when it comes to the wiring. I haven't looked. I am going to look tomorrow and see if I can find the reason why I have no power.

I was looking at explore619's tow harness that he has coming out of the jack compartment and it is pluged right into the factory haness via an addapter. I am gonna see if I have power right there and go from there. I know everything on my truck is working corectly but the tow harness. So I need to figure it out.

Gotta love OCD..... LOL.

How did you test the plug and determine its not getting power? Did you use a Multi-meter?

Well, I did use a multimeter to test it, and I do not know if all of the wires/wiring I have is stock, however I think it is. For me, it was located underneath the bumper, on the drivers side, up on the side.

I tested my factory plug that is behind the bumper coming out of the wiring harness with a test light and so did my nighbor who is a master tech. I know how to test wiring and all that. I have rewired entire engines and interiors before. I have been anound the block a few times. I just wanted to know if there was a fuse somewhere that I am missing. I want to know so I don't just go and start rewiring my whole factory tow harness.

I am gonna try and test the conector that is in the jack compartment tomorrow. I just hope that is is not anything major because I don't want to rewire the harness.
