I am purchasing a waverunner this friday w/a double trailer. Does anybody know the capacity that I could tow w/out buying a Class I hitch? If possible, I would just like to put the ball on my bumper. The weight of the waverunner is about 600lbs, and the trailer is around 550lbs. Thanks guys

I towed a 16' Searay for a year with a ball on the bumper, no problem. the bumper is probably more sensitive to tounge weight than total pulled weight.

A couple Wave runners should be a piece of cake.

i think you will be fine. i know the bumper can hold a lot just not sure how much

BTW, look closley, it is probably stamped on there, mine was 350# tongue weight and 3500# pulling weight.

Just be a little careful towing with the bumper hitch. You have less turning radius to work with than you do with a receiver type hitch, so don't cut any corners real tight.

I have a nice mark on my bumper from too tight of turn with a bumper hitch :D . Needless to say, I now tow with a class III frame mount hitch.

i have no idea about others, but mine is rated at 3500lbs. you could tow a waverunner (or 2, or 4) off the bumper just fine with no worries.

i tow a 20' boat off the bumper

you should only really have to worry about tounge weight, if it feels like more than a couple hundred pounds throw some ballast on the ass end of the trailer or move they toys back a bit if possible.

I tow a 12' popup tent trailer on my bumper with no problems. If you can lift the tongue by hand then you should be able to tow it on the bumper as I don't think many of us can dead lift more than the bumper can hold. Of course if we knew what year Xplorer you have we could give more accurate info regarding the bumper hitch.

Thanks guys for all the information. I'm pickin up the GP1200R today. Too bad it's not summer yet and I can't ride it....arrrrrgh
