Hey guys tomorrow morning I am going to be towing about 4000 lbs with the 5.0 X. I remember reading somewhere you should turn the air ride off when towing. Will it hurt it to leave it on (rides a lot better with it on) Or should I just deal with the harsh ride and turn the thing off. TIA...

The Owner's Manual will also tell you to cut it off.

I have no idea what it would do if you did tho...........

DO NOT TURN IT OFF.... you turn it off, your basically wont have shocks any more, and many bad things will happen. again, DONT TURN OFF AIR RIDE.... EVER when your driving, the only time you should turn air ride off is when your working on some aspect of the suspension.... hope that helps :)

The reason you are supposed to turn it off is because the added weight on the rear will make the compressor run almost constantly to keep the suspension level, which can burn it up.

So what should I do??? Some say to leave it on otheres say to leave it off? Will be leaving at 7am so need help ASAP!!!

Ryan,

I towed the X from KY with an Expe that had air ride. The manual said to turn it off and I did, never had any problem with it. I would turn it off.

what year was the ex? 98+ only had air ride in the rear shocks, not the same system as 97 down, which has air ride on all four corners. i leave air ride on when i tow and have no issues.

Hmm, well I think I am going to turn it back on, I turned it off today when I went to go get the empty trailer, and it really rides bad. If the compressor seems like its always on, I will turn it off, but otherwise I like the mushy ride of the air :)
