- 1999 explorer limited
Hello to all! This is my first posting on this forum, so here goes. I have a 1999 ford explorer limited that was acquired this spring. It has the 4.10 factory traction lok axle in the rear. It has 180,000km,( about 112,000 miles) on it. Has anybody rebuilt the clutch packs with the carbon fibre/ kevlar variety? Also is the preload spring the same as an f150 traction lok unit? I want the rear axle set up to be more aggressive than stock, but not to the point that I start eating tires. I take care to accelerate as little as possible in tight turns to avoid burning out the unit, but I suspect that it's already worn. any tips would be much appreciated. I do not want to spend a bunch of buckage swapping the entire unit out, and I have had experience with a detroit locker on a bronco I once owned. Cheers
