Wanted to go fishing today. Borrowed my neighbors boat, hooked up the wiring (4 pin flat) and none of the lights worked. no voltage at any of the pins. gnd (on white wire) seems missing. where to start?

I am guessing that you do not have the trailer package, since you did not mention a 7-pin converter? Start by tracing out the ground pin and getting a good ground connection to it.

I have been driven batty by trailer wiring issues over the years. Ground wiring missing is usually the culprit. If you don't have good ground connection none of the lights will work and you may not be able to read voltages. Check the fuses shown in your owners manual for trailer related wiring. There are also some relays that are related and shown in the manual.

If its an aftermarket installation it is possible that the converter is dead. Kind of hard for us to fix it remotely.

with the 4 pin, there should also be a connector under the tail light. if you look up you might see one of the plugs disconnected. You should see 2 or 3, 1-Fuel Pump, 2-Trailer lights, 3-Parking assist (if you have it). check for voltage at that plug. Also there is a rear PDU that this all plugs into which i next to the passenger 'D' Pillar, behind the RR plastic qtr panel.
