tranny lines

Hi all. I've got a 1995 4wd that developed an oil leak from one of the servo covers. I pulled the transmission out last year to replace the o-rings and then figured it would be easiest to pull the engine out, fix a few problems with it and reinstall them both as a unit. Now the engine and trans are back in and I'm working on reinstalling the accessories and such. I look on the shelf and find a steel line that I think goes on the transmission. It is about 1/4 inch O.D. and 48 inches long. It has a few bends in it and has a piece of rubber hose 4 inches long on one end. Sound familiar to any one?

I should have marked it when I pulled the trans out, but I didn't think it would be a year later before I was putting everything back together. Is there a source for any pictures of the trans and associated lines and such? I have a Haynes manual and a Ford Technical Manual on CD but neither of them have any pictures of the trans. Welcome, and that sounds like the vent line, which runs along the top of the trans. It goes up to a bell housing bolt I think. Regards,

Welcome to this forum! It could be the vent line as Don said, or it might be the vacuum line for the modulator if it would be on the 94. The 95 did not have a modulator.

Thanks for the replies. It's not the vent line, I have that installed. It is probably the vacuum line but I'm not sure how it fits. It has a tab where it bolts on that doesn't seem to line up.

The first post said that it's going into a 95, so it wouldn't have a vacuum line. Your 94 has the vacuum line. The 94 has an A4LD while the 95 has a 4R55E.

I'm still wrestling with this line. I guess I can't attach a picture, so that option is out. Does anyone know of a transmission picture that may be available on this site or maybe elsewhere? Also I found a tag on the line with the number F17A-7B095-DA. Don't know if this is a Ford part number or not. Thanks for any help on this.
