Tranny problem or not?

I have an 03 explorer 4.0 w/ auto transmission. Recently I had to slam on the brakes for an emergency stop and when I went to hit the gas again it as almost like it was in neutral and after a few seconds it was back to normal. I don't have any other problems with it shifting besides the above mentioned. And I actually did it two more times just to see if it would do the same thing again and it did. Anyone thing it has something to do with the trans fluid? My truck has 67k miles now.....someone brought it to my attention that fords usually need to have the trans fluid checked around 60k.

There is a thread in the transmission section which discusses how to fill, and check the 5R55W transmission. It's a sticky called 5R55W fluid fill. It's a good idea to replace the fluid, and filter with this much mileage if you haven't done so already. Use only Mercon V or full synthetic.

Are there any service shops you would recommend to do this besides the stealership?
