I don't have access to the vehicle right now, so I can't get any specs or anything off it, but I'm getting a new (to me) 94' ranger with a 4 cylinder and a 5-speed manual transmission. My question is whether or not the manual tranny will bolt up to my 94' explorer with a 4.0? I'm also getting a 92 crown vic with a (4.6?) liter V8, what do you think my chances of making that fit are? :D

Just kidding about the V8! (for now)

EDIT: just found out, It's a 92, not a 94!

The 4 cylinder uses a different bellhousing bolt pattern from the 6 cylinder, so it won't bolt up as is. As I understand it, the M5OD uses an integral bellhousing, so I don't think it's as simple as swapping bellhousings, either. I have heard of cases where people will swap the guts from a 4cylinder M5Od to a 6 cylinder M5OD (because the 4 cylinder version uses a lower 1st gear ratio).

Thanks, that was what I needed to know. Looks like I'll be hitting the pull-a-part soon to find a manual for the ex. Nothing wrong with the A4LD at all, just want a manual!
