Trans Help, quick question

I have the 98 4door 4x4 4spdAuto OHV ... do I have the 4R55E or the 4R70W ??? I'm getting mixed results depending on the source.

I can't find a transmission tag on the trans either... the stamped numbers are too small to read.

The chart I found here shows that you have the 5R55E. The 4R70W being used with the 5.0 only.

The photos of the types below the chart should nail it down.

Can't be 5R55E because that's a 5 speed, and I have a 4 speed.

Confusing stuff.

Is 98 the first year for the 4R70W behind a 4.0 ?

EDIT: Tow truck will be here in 10 mins. Handing it over to the pros.

Its should be a 4R55E.

4R70Ws we're never used in a 4.0L application.
