trans oil low, engine oil rises....any thoughts?

Good afternoon and happy new year everyone! Heres the story. I have to routinely add trans oil to the truck (with no signs of major external leak) and when doing so i notice the engine oil level is way overfilled. Having not overfilled it 6 months ago when i changed the oil i was slightly baffled. Anyone come accross this weird senerio before?

oh yeah btw just a side problem while i have a post up, headlights go out from time to time when in the highbeam selection. Upon a wiggle or twitch of the light switch they come on, i suspect a failing switch. Any thoughts?

Your modulator is most likely leaking. Check the vacuum line going to the engine from the modulator for transmission fluid.

i will check the modulator next time i have it up in the air. ANy other ideas???

The modulator valve is the ONLY link between your engine and transmission which could cause this.

i understand the modulator will pull trans. oil into the manifold. I will take a look at this in the near future.

I had the same problem.

You need a new tranny modulator valve!

Its a $20 part. I paid a local shop $100 for a professional installation. Problem solved!

Stop thinking about it, JUST DO IT. Your truck will be much happier.

As far as the switch goes, try spraying some electrical contact cleaner into the switch and cycle it several times. Great stuff - I use it on guitar and amp controls when they get noisy.
