I didn't even jack up the truck and I pumped the merc v back in took about a min lol

Cheap insurance.

If your luck is like mine I never would have checked it, and blown a transmission on a rail road crossing with a 110 car freight train coming around the bend!

Glad it was good.

Thanks I'm happy it was fine
Plus the pan looks good now

Well done, short easy projects happen sometimes.

Nice job.

Has anyone, besides me, pressed the button on a spray can for so long the tip of your index finger fell asleep and it took days for the feeling to come back?

Has anyone else besides me sprayed deodorant on their tooth brush in the morning?

Dang.

I just wanna know how you got that converter off. Last time I tried I used a sawzall, wd40+impact gun wasnt making it happen.

I was lucky
A year ago I had the transmission rebuilt
A couple months ago I had the engine replaced with a remain so them bolts just came off easy
When the mechanic took it off when the trans when in he told me he put a torch to the header bolts but the other two always just came off with
A little trans fluid and isopropyl alcohol mixed together
An old timer showed me works amazingly well

I just got up to get the kids to school
I can see how that could happen

At least you didn't but toothpaste under your arms. I had an aunt that scrubbed her teeth with Bengay once.

Since we are talking about really stupid tricks I was going to clean a carburetor off once and was too lazy to get safety glasses.

You guessed it.

Shot right back at me and into one eye. My contact lens turned into Jello quick!

Second lesson if you are young. Never Ever watch someone weld with out a shield on even for a few seconds...

BTW Some of the younger guys may not know what a carburetor is.

It's a very reliable device used for mixing fuel and air and needs no wires or PCM to make it work.

Your a funny guy
I wish carbs were more common
Pretty much only on lawnmower and weed eaters

When I was a kid I used to rebuild them to make money so I can buy my own toys

any answers would be great thanks yall

@donalds ,

Sounds like your on the right track with very little gasket sealer.

It makes cork gaskets slick and they mush out.

As for the metal inserts my guess is they were deleted to cut manufacturing cost and increase profit... (Never heard of corporate America doing that)

100 inch lbs is not a lot of torque as you well know. Do you have an inch pound torque wrench in your toy box?

Yes I do have a inch pound wrench

The rubber gasket I torqued to 72 inch pounds and that squeezed out to
Thanks
