Transfer case leak

I've got an 06 V8 with automatic 4WD with 54,000 miles. The other day I had to use 4WD for the first time in a few months to get my boat up a ramp and noticed a fairly significant front diff leak on the garage floor the next day. My visual inspection and research in my Haynes Repair Manual leads me to the conclusion that this is a problem with the front driveshaft oil seal.

Anybody had any experience with this issue? The fix sounds pretty involved (complete transfer case disasembly). Wondering about time to repair and cost. Also if it would be covered under the Ford Extended Service Plan (I'll certainly push for that). Thanks

I don't know much about warranties, but it sounds like if it's a drivetrain issue, it would be covered.
