Well, if it isn't one thing it's another. After dumping $800+ in a new fuel pump (yes, i paid to have it done.) the transfer case has developed a swell rattle-type rotational (wheel speed, not RPM) noise. I've been under the thing and can reproduce the noise by turning the front drive shaft and it's definitely the t-case. I loosened the drain plug to check that there is fluid in it and there is but I didn't have the time/resources to drain it and refill so the condition of said is unknown.
I've been at the point of diminished returns for some time now but continue to work to keep this thing on the road so I'm seriously hoping that new fluid will do the trick. Any suggestions as to what will help?
My Explorer: Stock '96 EB 4.0 V6
Potentially related info: The 4wd auto light comes on when switched but the front wheels have no drive. The front diff IS engaging though, this I have confirmed (opposite rotation of front wheels).
Thanks!
