Transmission A4LD - Reverse will not engage

I have a 1994 ford explorer with 160K miles and this morning the car would not engage in reverse. The truck does not slip in third gear and i am not thinking it's the Clutch. Could it be the cable or Vacuum Modulator? The Transmission oil looks and smells fine. Confused. Need some advice.

Your transmission is auto and has a torque converter not a clutch. There probably not to much you can do as its probably something in the transmission itself. IMO I don't think vacuum lines have anything to do with it. Its not very hard to drop that auto and replace it with a JY unit. Or you could go the hardway and tear in the transmission and replace the reverse components.
