Hi, can anyone help me. I am using a 4.0 sohc motor to fit into my ford van in the UK. The van is an odd ball special is vehicle as it has a 4x4 factory conversion. It is very primitive and built by a tractor company.
Anyway, I want to use the 4.0 as a 302 is just that bit too extreme for a work van. The problem is I am having a few probe mating the engine to the trans. It is dooable but I am now thinking of going the auto route.
The motor will be running magasquirt so I need a trans that is old school or can be electronicaly controled via it's own controler.
The transfer case for the front goes to the left side of the vehicle.
It is currently using a np208 as a divorced setup so a 2wd tranny could be used with minimal mods.
It also needs to be strong as the van is getting near three tons most of the time also something not too difficult to get in the UK.
Thanks for your time in advance, Paul

Have I posted this in the wrong section? I thought some of you would be chomping at the bit to come up with a plan, I am surprised, paul

Paul what is magasquirt?

Paul what is magasquirt?

Type of fuel management/tuning/software system. Google my friend :).

OP definitely not something we are used to seeing much with these vehicles. Look forward to this!

OK. What about the Mazda five speed manual.

Btw just i case, I apologize if I came off rude. I was hoping the smiley face would show I was meaning it friendly but often times things can be read differently.

Just wanted to make sure you knew. :salute:

Back to the original question, is it possible to get a stand alone ecu over there that would control the gearbox from an explorer. I am more than happy to use that or any other auto box that can be controlled independently of the engine ecu, or even better a box with none of the electronic crap?
