So last night around 12:45 am im driving my girl friend home and I hit a MASSIVE pot hole that was masked by water. After hitting it I went to a gas station to get a drink before I went to bring her home and what do I see? a nice line of tranny fluid behind my X. So I get down to see what it is and there is my tranny cooler hanging on the lines and draging on the floor. this sucks, I have a waranty from my tranny rebuild place on all thier work (they put in the heavey duty cooler) do you think this should be coverd? since they did not mount it correctly?

if the work is guaranteed it should be covered, but you should look and see if it has a mounting bracket or the thru radiator plastic mounts. if you go off road with your x the thru radiator mounts arent gonna cut it. theyre about as strong as lite duty zip ties and will eventually fail. plus they can cause radiator damage.

abuse normally doesnt qualify for warranty work....

How is hitting a pot hole in NYC (horrible streets) count as abuse? Also why would they use zip ties to mount it? is this common practice? , anyway I got my truck back today and they did the work for free, so im happy and I got all new fluid, being there wasn't any left lol.

I try to do things the right way, the best way--and if at all possible I would not want to use zip ties if I was securing a cooler.

the through the radiator cooler ties are common practice, yes.

Also not all zip ties are created equally.

If it is the factory cooler then it should be bolted to its factory mount.

It's after market and mounted on the other side of the radiator (looking at the vehicle from the front its on the left). I know not all are created equal but if they broke from hitting a pot hole then I would be lead to belive they are sub-par.

never use zip ties only duct tape

I agree, ever read the book 101 uses for duct tape? lol

I have ore zip ties on my truck then bolts, very little duct tape.

They are the two most usefull things ever made.
