How often is a transmission flush recommended on an automatic trans? I am on my 3rd tranny in my 95 explorer with 134,000 miles. I put 31's on it along with AAL and TT and did some serious 4-wheeling for a while, but am now wary of excessive 4-wheeling due to the cost of another tranny rebuild. Any suggestions for 4-wheeling without having to worry about tranny problems?

yes get a trans temp gage and a good trans cooler.
:)

Seems many 95 trucks dont even have an auxillary trans cooler from the factory, not good.

heat kills your trans fluid

If it is burnt and brown then I would reccomend a pan and filter drop now. You can install a drain plug in your trans pan, then drain it a couple more times in the next few months and the fluid should start to run red again.

the power back flush machines can release sludge in your trans and actually cause more problems, depending on the condition of your trans/filter/fluid.

Typically the rebuild is when the nightmare starts, these transmissiions need to be rebuilt without cutting any corners and by a builder who really knows his stuff.

You may try a search on this forum, auto transmissions are a hot topic as you can imagine :)
