so my transmission keeps geting really hot. started one day with no previous tranny problems. im hoping to get it fixed and not need a new one so some help trouble shooting the problem would be good. havent changed the tranny oil since i got it but i've only put about 40,000km on it since then. about 250k total on transmission.

How do you know it is getting hot, do you have a temp gauge? If so, how hot exactly is it getting? What are your symptoms?

If the trans fluid level is low or other things cause the trans to slip, the friction can build up heat. You might want to check your bands are in adjustment and that the fluid is not burnt.

The stock trans cooler is barely sufficient for the southern half of the US. In stop and go traffic and low speeds it really isn't good enough. An aftermarket cooler placed inline is cheap insurance against tranny failure.
