Transmission Issue?

[My 2007 V8 Sport Trac with overdrive seems to slip , like a miss, when in overdrive. I can switch it out of OD and it stops. It has 83,000 miles and runs very well except for this. Plugs are Ok. Any ideas?

you're getting close to the transmission fluid change for a start check for codes, then check the fluid level and color, here's a chart of the fluid colors just in case, from what I've seen it's a band problem but was common en 00-04 models, i have a 2007 ST V8 limited with 98,000 miles did my service at 93,000, just reaching the 93,000 it was getting stuck on first gear did my transmission service new filter and fluid and was all gone shifting smooth, only use Motorcraft Mercon V

Doesn't the 6R60 require Mercon SP?

Yes.

I found Mercon SP at Advance Auto by my house. Autozone did not carry it. I just went through all of this myself. You may want to crack that 3/4" dipstick/fill nut loose while it is still cool enough not to burn yourself. Mine was TIGHT. I then tightened it back up and checked everything once it warmed up.
