'98 Limited 4.0SOHC
Ive got a '98 Limited 4.0SOHC. The other day i was driving and the overdrive off light was flashing. after a bit it went away. i forgot about this issue and lt somebody borrow my explorer for 2 weeks and when i got it back they told me the light had been flashing for most of the time they had it. when i try and hit the overdrive on/off button nothing happens. it stopped flashing last week and i was going to take care of it the next day. as i was driving home for the night it just stopped running in the middle of the intersection. i pushed it to a parking lot and let it sit for 30 min. when i tried it again it would only let me do 30mph at 3500rpm max. i tried again the next morining and it did the same thing. as i tried to back it into my garage it wouldnt work in reverse or 1st gear. turned it off and tried again imidiately and reversed worked but i didint try any other gear. i looked up what the light meant and it said a piston, transmission or the sensor needed to be replaced. a mechanic told me it might be a gasket in the tranny. any sugestions on what it could be?

Internal problem, could be a clutch pack which usually shows itself when warm. When its cold it will move but slip when warm.
