transmission issues

Ho everyone i have a 95 ford explorer 2 door. It has a 4r55e automtic transmission in it. I have changed bands valve body valve body gasket an changed the pig tail wiring going intothe transmission but i am having issues with it lossing drive an reverse. If i shut it off and then restart it all the gears come back. Im thinking its the pcm. Any help would be great.

This transmission should always have a drive gear and reverse regardless of what the computer does, even unplugged it should still pull forward in third gear (all solenoids off) and have reverse.

If you have a complete loss of forward and reverse and have to shut it off to get it to engage it makes me think of a clogged filter or some other problem with the main line pressure. Check line pressure with a gauge if you can.

Thanks gor the info iwill check line pressure. The trans has all new solenoids an filter. Along with the valve body an gaskets are new
