i haven’t been in here in a while because everything has been great. I searched the forum for similar issue but did not see one as of yet. 95 ex. Driving home this morning without warning the engine acted like it ran out of fuel and stalled. Threw it in neutral and it restarted but when I put it in drive...nothing. Pulled over and realized all I have is park. Went out and checked fluid and it was over full. I check fluids regularly and I have not had any issues with the trans fluid nor have I added any in over a year. While I was waiting for a ride I had it idling for a while then it did the same thing with the stall. The only thing I can think of is a failed front pump and it shoved all the fluid back into the pan. Any other thoughts would be helpful. Thanks.

If it's stalling in gear the one way clutch in the torque converter may have locked up.

I don’t think that is it as the vehicle no longer has any selection of gear.

How does the fluid look? Check your radiator level.

You are probably right then, and have a pump issue.

I’d surely confirm it by testing the line pressure before yanking it out.

Pump or torque converter, the trans will have to come out. I'm thinking torque converter.

Pump or converter, I had this literal thing a month or so back, except I pulled up to the gas station, got out and that was apparently it because no gears when I came back. Not good news but news nontheless.
