Transmission noise/burnt fluid... Please help!

A transmission shop never opens a torque converter. They are welded together by a specialized torque converter rebuilder. How would they know that it was in such bad condition without opening it? Could you post the list of items that they replaced?

They did open the transmission up on the first day they had the truck in the shop, and then they called and told me what they found inside (it's a pretty big shop, so they probably had the tools they needed for a good analysis, plus the metal in the pan that they said they found must have been a dead giveaway). These are the parts they supposedly replaced/installed:

overhaul kit, torque convertor, clutch kit, 2nd band, 2nd piston, OD band piston, solenoid kit, 2 bolts/2 nuts, t-case seal, t-case gasket, t-case oil (Mercon V).

These are all the parts I got listed on the final repair report. I went there 2 weeks later to validate my warranty (they had to make sure everything was ok with the tranny) and it looks like I'm all set (at least for now, lol). For over 2 grand, I certainly hope I am....

Well, after I paid over 2G's for the job, they gave me a 1 year/20 000km warranty on the tranny afterwards, but they needed to "validate" that warranty after 2 weeks of me driving the truck (to make sure everything was working fine). It was a complete rebuild of the tranny, so everything inside is now warranted.
