Hi guys,
my name is Agim and Im from Berlin Germany.Im driving a 93 Explorer with A4LD transmission and have a little problem:
The transmission shifts very very late.
From the first to the second gear its ok. But from the 2nd to 3rd gear and so on the transmission shifts at about 4000rpms. Not earlier.
What kind of problem could it be?

Thank you and best regards

Agim

The first thing necessary for a diagnosis of your situation would be to get transmission line pressures. In other words what is the hydraulic pressure operating within the transmission. My guess is you have a low pressure.... which causes delays in actuating the things needed for crisp shifts.

While a valve body issue COULD be at play.... given the age and probable mileage, I'd want to know pressures first before I ventured a tentative diagnosis.

How can I measure the pressure in the trans?
