Does anyone know where I can find a good set of instructions for the removal and installation of a 2004 Explorer transmission?

Welcome to this forum! I've renamed your thread, and moved it into the transmission section. There is a sticky thread on the top of this section with step by step instructions.

re-hasing as I am scouring this site looking for an easy step by step and i could not locate it in the sticky thread. I did notice one for the 4 series that looks like a great place to start.

if you know of a good thread for either the 55R5W or 55R5S its would be great help and I would add to it. If not, i will be sure and make one when I do mine.

Best thing I know of for removal, installation, is Ford Shop Manual, http://www.helminc.com/helm/Result....4&Category=1&Keyword=&Module=&selected_media=

I am sure its great, but for $180..nah.. i found all the information I needed here!!! love this site!
The decision to spend money for a shop manual must be based on how much work you can do yourself. So far, I have never paid for work done on any vehicle, or any part of any vehicle, I have ever owned. The shop manual therefore is my Car Bible. See? imp

not really. I work on my cars all the time, myself. I can find the answers i need here on on the internet, or go to a library and request whatever i need to borrow if ever i need to. like i mentioned, even though it may be worth it to you, its not to me as there are resources (like this site) out there.

sometimes, if you ask for some answers you get them quicker then spending time searching for them. I do understand having something like that making it easier to find answers, but thats just not me.
