Hi folks,
I'm rebuilding the 4r44e auto transmission in my 1997 Ranger and after replacing many internal parts the clearance for the center support ring no longer has the space to allow it to rest on the seat and let me install the tapered snap ring.
Ford used to sell four different thicknesses of these thrust bearings, but now they don't know how to sell the ones for my transmission. Both of the bearings I ordered at the dealer have center openings of about 2 5/8". The one in my transmission is 2 7/16". I don't want it rattling abound on the shaft.

Does anyone know where I can find a thrust bearing that is .114" thick with a center hole 2 7/16"?
I've tried every local supplier with no luck.
Thanks,
Garbird

Maybe this will help.

Thanks for the reply swetrid. I'm glad to say that I finally got it fixed today. It turned out that the output shell I bought was not correct, it was manufactured wrong and was causing the clutch drums to sit to high. The supply house gave me another one and it went together perfectly with the original thrust bearing.
Thanks again,
garbird
