Is there any way to tell exactly what transmission my Explorer has? I've got a 94 XLT.

Yes it's an auto, thanks. Considering it's got 250K km on it (and no issues so far) should I consider adjusting the bands or don't fix what's not broken?

Mine was high KMS when I started messing with it, a bit more than yours actually. Adjust the bands and change the fluid and filter (Fram Dacron filter). You won't hurt it.

I think that's the first time I've ever seen anyone actually recommend a Fram filter.

Now to just find one... parts suppliers seem to use their own a lot.

and pay triple?

Not sure where you get your pricing but Rock Auto shows 13 for the cheap one and 18 for the Ford. 5 bucks and you get better filtering. Seems like it is worth it to me.

I also have an external filter set up that I added, uses an hydraulic oil filter.

Make sure you order the 4 wd one. The pickup is longer.

Yea but what is shipping to Canada going to be like?

Not sure, I merely meant that the prices shouldn't be too much different where ever you happen to be. I have ordered many parts from RA and although the shipping is a bit wild it is still more cost effective for me than going to NAPA.

I usually only order from RC when I need a lot of parts, er... or I just want to buy a bunch of stuff. You kind of get addicted to getting parts in the mail. Strange but I guess that is what makes me "unique" as my wife likes to say. Not sure what she means...

Yea me and eBay get along well for that very reason. Some of the parts on there are reasonable, but I have to be careful as some people want INSANE amounts of money for shipping! At least I can get AirMiles when shopping on eBay. :-D

Strange but I only remember to use the blue card in liquor stores in Ontario for some reason!?!

Rock Auto has a coupon code in the vendors section of this site.

Shipping is going to cost more than the part itself. I tried looking into ordering more parts, but for every part, extra shipping was added on. I'll try the local Lordco here. They usually carry Fram stuff.
