This is a weird one. My transmission on my 2002 eb v6 4x4 has 100,000 miles on it. It has started to act up but not bad enough to stop driving it just less driving. It hesitates a tiny but to upshift into 3rd and 4th but downshifts smooth as silk. It acts like a near new transmission when the od off is on, but here is where it gets weird. Some days it shifts way better then other days. The longer I drive it seems to cause it to get a little bit worse but not by much. I think the tranny is fine though as it still works. I was told by a transmission shop I had a failing bad torque converter (never knew it could start to fail thought it just did fail). I think it has to do with the computer(s) that control the transmission. Could it be a solenoid pack going or done bad? I do not know what that is but other threads make me think this maybe the problem. I read to have codes pulled. Is this like OBD 1 and 2 like on my Audi? Can a NAPA or someplace pull the codes for free? Thanks guys.

Maybe it doesn't like Mondays or something. Sometimes I don't feel like working right on certain days. That's really strange though... good luck with the diagnosis

Hello fellow alaska member ^.^ im from A town myself. EVERY vehicle made post 1996 is ODB2, you can have napa or autozone pull the codes for free, and if not ask around, quite a few people have code readers. Im not sure what to say about your trans problems other than 100K is a little soon for a TQ to fail. (mines passing 121K and its still good to go) Fords computer turning left a lot to be desired to keep the vehicles very relyable. Has it always been this way? how hesitent is it? Does it shift hard when it does shift or does it just take a few moments? Whats transmission shop? I have had very good luck with B&B transmission off dimond before C street. If it was the sylanoid pack it would be throwing so many codes and wouldnt drive at all. and if im fairly sure if it was the torque converter it would be shifting hard all over the place. Have another shop take a good look at it or maybe even ask worthington ford to do it(they are expensive, but good), before you drop 2000+ for a new T/q. Or even better, wait for what ever is going to fail, to fail.

Good luck and keep us informed.

P.s. i had James and hensonperformance tune my truck year or two ago, and its a totaly different machine, shifts smooth and fast..
