99explorer 4x4 reverse went in the transmission it can drive fwd but right side front wheel binds, I was thinking i have access to a 95 explorer 4x4 would trans mission work in it and is it a job a regular joe can do.

i believe that the 99 transmissions and the 95 are two totally different ones. I believe that the 1997 and up are the 5R55E and the 94 and 95 are the 4R55E. If you have the v8 the transmission on your 1999 could be a 4R70W

so long story short,

if you have a v6 you most likely have a 5R55E transmission
and if you have a v8 its a 4R70W

the 95 transmission will not fit.

IIRC, up to 94, it is a4ld. 95 and 96 were pretty much 4r55e. Everything after that was usually 5r55e
