Let me see if I have this straight Danny or Mitch.....................

You drive a '99 XLT V6. Recently, you were in northern Georgia traveling down some steep hills. You put the X in low gear while going down these hills and the truck felt like the transmission was not in DRIVE. Because of this condition, you were applying the brakes too often. While going uphill in low gear, the truck acted fine. Now you are wondering what would cause this.

Is that about right?

Do a search of the site for no compression braking in 1st. Should turn up a bunch of information on the subject.

Short form is that the valve body may be loose or the gasket between the seperator and the body is shot- they have an update and I believe there is even a TSB for the problem. But a search should turn up the info you need.

Good Luck

Rob you are helping with his problem HOW??? A guy using his friends sign in is looking for some help. So a couple of things are misspelled - we all do it... just look at mine, spelling mistakes abound...

LOL... Robb is just being Robb. I thought it was kinda funny. :D No offense Danny.
