So I have a 2002 ST with high miles that after getting off the high way, the O/D off light starts flashing and it has trouble shifting (automatic). It becomes extremely sluggish and I have to have 4,000 RPMs before it would upshift. Anyone experience this. Suggestions.

Usually this is a tell tale sign that your trains is failing and needs replacement

I would start by checking codes in the trans control module.. could be as easy as a T/P Sensor.. but either way the codes will lead you on your way.

ok i am having something of the same symptoms I'm bringing my truck in the shop on monday they said it was the bands were to tight or loose didnt think there were bands in this trans ? and this my third trans job in 6 months before the solenoids were bad and my second time my torque converter wasnt shutting off which was boiling them aft

I got the codes.

P0732-Gear Ratio 2 incorrect

P0733-Gear Ratio 3 incorrect

P0734-Gear Ratio 4 incorrect

P0735-Gear Ratio 5 incorrect

P1783-Trasmission over temp condition

P1270-Engine RPM/Speed limiter reached.

Can anyone explain this? If I replaced the Solenoid block, when that fix the gear ratio's? The last two, is that just because of how I was driving it, or would I need to replace something for that too? Help!

It could also be one of the bands is ripped which is throwing of the gears the the problem I just had
