Trouble w/ state inspection

When i took my 03 Explorer to get its annual safety inspecton, I was told that they were "unable to communnicate" with the commputer. I searched some of the threads, but did not see any that may help me out. Any ideas before the cops get me for an expired motor vehicle inspection?

Welcome aboard. It might be a blown fuse for the OBD II connector. Check fuse #24 under the dash.

Unable to Communicate Problem

I tested the #24 15amp Fuse and it was ok. However, the front cigarette lighter is not working, but the one a the rear of the center console does. I guess they are different circuits.

Does anyone know of another power source for the front cigarette lighter?

I know on the Mother In laws caviler that when the cig lighter fuse is blown you can't talk to the computer.

It happened a couple times on her car.. turned out it was the way someone installed head unit in the car.. they hooked it to the cig lighter for 12V constant and just taped it together...

I got a hunch you're talking about the front power point, not the cigar lighter circuit. Power point fuses are #7 and #9 in the battery j-box. Check those out, maybe someone did monkey with your wiring.

If memory serves, the fuse is under the hood. It's a big mother - almost looks like a relay. Don't you have an owners manual? Should be #9 under the hood.

Guys- It was a blown #9 fuse. Thank you very much, you no doubt saved me a couple hundred bucks...
