Trouble with CC on 2004 Explorer

HI I am a new owner of a 04 EX just bought it after my F-150 was totaled stick with a good brand . have driven it 500 mi. , today on the way to my kids house ,had the CC on all of sudden the engine died , stopped put in park end it started OK .went about 1/2 mi.and it died again re started again shut off CC and went to kids house . Later on the way back home tried CC again ,worked OK for a while then engine died ,restarted and up to speed @35 punched resume and motor died . Shut off CC started EX and drove home and put in garage any help or advise on what to look for.

what's a "CC"?
 






"Cruise Control" I guess? :dunno:
 






does the horn work? it could be a clock spring malfunction. If these trucks have clock springs.
 






check oil life on message centre, mine did that after i bought it. all was good til i hit cruise control,and that was at about 35mph, 60kph then bang limp home mode and stall after pulling over. changed oil and filter, reset oil life no dramas since
 






Yes it is Cruise controll ,And Ex starts right up and runs fine(NO limp mode)
 












Sorry about double post. I understand about the break switch, but would it shut off the motor, wouldn't it just shut off the cruise?

Don't know about that. Maybe someone with more knowledge will chime in.
