I have a 95 Explorer sport, and for some reason when i brake it pulls to the side. Sometimes to the left and others to the right. This doesn't happen often but i haven't driven the past 2 days cause I don't want to damage anything. please help!!!

It might be nothing. It might just be the irregularity of the road. Normally if you are on the left hand lane the road tend to slant to the left and the right hand lane to the right. When you press on the brake you tend to go in the direction of the slant. Just keep that in mind and check that next time around.

Otherwise, check your tire pressure from all four and your alignment.

this can happen if you have a warped rotor too but it usually pulls taht way, not both.

could be irregularity in the road or a sticking caliper.... but since it goes both ways, im more prone to saying irregularity in the road or a problem with out of balance tires/improper inflation pressures

When was the last time you had the vehicle aligned? If your front end is out of alignment (or if you have a suspension component like ball joints or tie rod ends going bad) it can cause that to occur.

I would lean towards a sticky caliper. A caliper engaging improperly will produce pulling in either direction. Engaging too much or not enough.

Edit:
We had the same problem on ours.

well i took it out my truck for a ride this morning to see if it was just the road conditions, but it wasn't even on the flat and straight newly paved roads it still did it. Plus i also heard a few times a loud screach when i applied the breaks, not just the ordinary squeel though, one like when you pull out a chair on a tiled surface. So it probably has something to do with the brakes. Well if anybody has any other opinions please post. I'll be taking my truck to the garage this week. thanks for all the other replys.

if you've ever had rotors replaced then the shop could have mixed matched 2 or more different size rotors. That is what could me causing the pulling.

also check wheel bearings that will cause some pulling and will effect brakeing (have had that problem on my '93)

get an alignment and check your ball joints. Mine did it either way dependign on the way on the steering wheel because my caster was off.
