Where is the DPFE sensor on a 97 4 cylinder???

Trying to help fix my gramps ranger ,
Got check engine code P0402 and researched and its most likely the DPFE sensor.

Does anybody have a picture or diagram of where its at on a 1997 4 cylinder ranger?

Thanks much.

I can't find a good picture from the DVD service info, but it should be fairly easy to find.

Start at the exhaust manifold and find the EGR tube that goes from the manifold to the EGR valve (it should be about one inch diameter and 6 - 10 inches long). There should be two small tubes that branch off of the larger tube about half way up. They will have two small black hoses attached that lead up to the DPFE sensor. It will be about 4 inches long by two inches tall and about 1/2 inch thick. It will be either an aluminum body with a three wire connector on it or a plastic body if it has been replaced before. Make shure the hoses are clean when you work on it, because they can get stuff built up in them to block the flow.
