Is a big pain in the arse!

Im not getting anywhere...first the little tabs were lifted in order to take the plug off. That went Ok i guess?

Now im trying to unlock the retainer thingy, i turn them as far as they go. But they will not budge. I cant take them off? I can turn both of them, but only so slightly. I know it's only gonna turn about 1/8.

Some please help me here. It's cold and im getting angry. :(

Once you get the retainer things unscrewed etc, then all you should have to do is wiggle out the bulb.

Well yeah, i turned the retainer thingy. It still will not come off...

I just tried taking the whole headlight assembly out. I cant figuare out how it comes off?

When you turned the retainer, did it come like completely loose? That's what should be happening....

Just out of curiosity, are you trying to take out the whole assembly or just the bulb?

Sometimes the retainer rings are very very difficult to take off. You may need some extra help or some large pliers.

Well, Im just trying to replace the bulb. So it doesnt matter how I do it.

Alec, I thought about that. But was afraid something might snap off. Im not to sure i want to use pliers?

I guess being that there is so very little room, I cant get a good strong grip on the retainer.

Btw, what is holding the headlight assembly down? I cant find any screw that might be. I did take the turning signal assembly off to.

Many people take out the battery and airbox for more room under there, just a suggestion.

thanks Alec, I thought about that to. I guess ill just wait for warmer weather. I thought it was gonna be a 10 min job, TOPS!!! I thought wrong.

They sure dont make it easy anymore.

Alec, do you know where the screws are, that hold down the head light assembly? Im not seeing them. I do see this funky looking screw with two plastic clips surrounding it. One on each side, i can only reach the one with the turning signal assembly off.

I did my headlight bulbs without taking out the battery. It was a tough job though... and I have really thin small hands so it wasn't too bad. But the passenger side I took out the airbox... thought I'd throw that in there.

I change mine without taking out anything, and I have fairly large hands. I place a flathead in the little grooves on the side of the retainer, and push down, that spins it off. I am not resposible for any breakage that can occur if you do it wrong ;).

Thanks guys, I got it done! :)

Just pulled out some pliers, and said what the hell.

The hardest part was putting the new bulbs in with out touching them on somthing. Phew...

Thanks guys.

My hands are cold and sore. :D

For the headlight housing...

There are three plastic clips that hold the housing onto the beam adjustment mechanism. They are plastic toggle clips that just require compression in order to remove the housing. There are two on the outside edge, and one on the top of the inside edge. You may have trouble removing the one on the bottom outside edge, though.
