TSL THORNBIRDS

I'll never understand why some people always have to have an opinion on something that they know absolutely nothing about. From what I've SEEN and DRIVEN with my own truck I will take Thornbirds off road over BFG Mud Terrains any day of the week and in any terrain.

BFG MT's are used a lot around here in Texas for real off-roading. I have AT's and they do well in sand, rock, and mud. We don't go "mudding" around here, we go off-roading and MT's hold up good in all the different terrains on the trail.

Well my cousin's sister-in-law's ex-husband has a TSL he used as a spare once and HE said they were only good for ice driving on the moon.

Sorry, just trying to add a little humor here...

i do agree with paul. i think thornbirds are a really good tire. they are louder than most tires, but still have a smooth ride under 70mph. they should NOT last 15k. they are rated by interco for 25-40 depending on the application and use. now, i've never been TRUE OFF-ROADING i guess, if that means riding down a trail and crossing through ditches, but i could see how bfg's would work pretty well.

I HEARD it from a friend who OWNED a set of Thornbird's. I have been in mud, ruts, sand and rocks. My BFG's work great and they are self cleaning as opposed the Thornbird's which are not. As for the side wall tread it is lacking, but I can live with that.

If you like your thornbird's then that's fine, no need to get defensive guys.

Olivesman,
If I lived in Georgia and played in the mud, there would be no substitute. The Swamper is the best traction aid there is.
I wanted the chance to drive out with my father to Oklahoma to check out the land that he owns, and he always said, if it looks like
rain, you better not travel off pavement. All of the driving in the area is off pavement, and he says the mud is like goo.
I wanted to drive him with my SX's bolted on, but the problem is, they are only going to last me one more month. With all of
the driving I do here in So. Cal, I know that another set of Swampers would not be very cost effective. I'm siding with the BFG's
for that reason. More power to you and the swamps and bogs though, because in your neck of the woods, you'll need them!

Personally I think there is a Super Swamper for any off road application....But I really love my boggers...Wicked traction!

mr. cooke- good luck with your tires. i can see how you definately right about a swamper not being cost effective onroad. have you looked into the new pro comps? they are an excellent tire. i have owned a set of pro comps, bfg's, goodyears, and swampers and my favorite has actually been the pro comps. in sticky mud they'll turn into racin' slicks, but you guys don't seem to have that problem. they also seemed to ride smoother than even my bfg's, plus they have better ciping and more aggressive tread. it's hard to tell, but to ME they look more aggressive up next to a bfg. you also still might be able to persuade 4wheel wholesalers to make you a good deal. that's how i got mine. good luck to you man-russel
