TT/ WILL NOT WORK!!!!

So last night I finished building my homemade shakles, and they just need paint now. So i desited maybe it's time to crank the bars. So i started crankin on the driver side and it went up 1/2 inch and stoped! The bolt would not go any farther it was turned all the way. So i backed it back to where i started. The pass. side bolt has a enough room it lokks like to go the full 2 in. but not the driver side. It's like some one put the t-bar bracket down a side (hope that made sence)

Do i Just need a longer bolt?
Is the bolt a standard thread? :confused:

There's a way to turn the whole t-bar and then just adjust the bolt, I think it is explained at Gerald's write up... Good luck!!
 






Yes like Oso_polar said, some of the newer 2nd gen t-bars are misaligned from the factory. You'll need to remove the torsion bar and realign it like it should be. I recommend you get the puller tool from Ford before you do the job.

a big 2 jawed gear puller works fine. ive used one many times before.

The torsion bars are easy to pull. The problems I see with using a longer bolt is that the bolt will be at a more severe angle than it was designed to operate at and with more bolt sticking up into the torsion bar adjuster makes it easier to snap the bolt off (ask ExplorerGM about that). I would rather spend the 15 minutes to remove the torsion bar and reposition it to the correct orientation than substitute a longer bolt that will likely slip out of the adjuster or break in two.
 






Yeah click on "Gerald's Truck" in my signature below and scroll down to the second post. There is a section where I explained that I found out mine was missaligned at the factory and I ran out of threads too.

I've used a gear puller but it barely fits right and I have a bear of a time R/R'ing my torsion bars, no way it's just a 15 minute job for me. Robert, I tried buying the special Ford tool but they wouldn't sell it to me (I suppose to try to force me to pay their service dept to do it for me).
 






My 15 minute time doesn't include jacking up the front and getting my tools ready. With my impact wrench I can have my torsion bar out in 15 minutes once I have the front off the ground. The first puller I used, I borrowed from a friend. The puller worked like it was designed for removing the torsion bar. The last time that I pulled my bar out I used a cheap Harbor Freight Special. By the time I was done using the puller, it was bent into a C. I took it back to Harbor Freight to return it when I finished with it. Here is the one that I would recommend.
