what do you mean by TUNE? do you mean tranny? computer?

if u have an XCal or LiveWire there are user settings you can adjust for larger tires, shift points, idle rev, etc.

Have james hook you up with a custom tune.

i want 245/75/16's, and i have 235/70/16's currently...

when you get bigger tires, your mileage goes down correct ????, and your RPM's are higher then stock...

how to i alter the computer to run as if my X had STOCK 245 size tires from the start ??????? i know there are stock 17's that come on X's with 245's BFG rugged trails...

could a local performance shop do this to my truck ????

Danny

Tire size change=Gear ratio change.

could a local performance shop change my gear ratio ????

i would imagine yes, figuring ricers get there stock honda rims changed to 17's or 18's which would prob need regearing ??????

Tire size change=Gear ratio change.

That's not exactly correct. Rolling diameter change = gear ratio change, though anything up to about 5% is OK. I'm running 265/75/16 where standard tyre is 245/65/17 and my speedo is out by only 3% compared to GPS (around 7% out compared to stock, though). I have not changed my gear ratios or shift points, and have not found any ill-effects thus far (not counting slightly increased fuel consumption).

235/70/16 = 29" diameter.
245/75/16 = 30.5" diameter

Overall change is 5.2% - I reckon that's within allowable tolerances, so I don't think you'd need to change anything unless you really, really want to.

JCUZ

Oh, cool... so it's not just a tool in the mail and you're expected to know how it works. Sounds good.

Don't you think if I had one i'd actually give them step by step instructions?

a LiveWire is on my wish list, but it won't be making the cut for xmas...

Oh, I already know about this... I was just asking questions that someone reading might not know.

Before you go changing things or spending tons of money on a hand held tuner check the actual height of the tire you want compared to the tire on your X.Don't belive the sizes they post on tire sites. The true reading is mounted on the rim you are going to use.Bigger dia. tires = lower rpms at crusing speeds. That makes the engine labor and you get lower mpg.I put 33's on my CJ-7 up from stock 27" tires had to put 4.10 gears in it to get back the gas mileage.
