so i've noticed that many cars old and new have turn signals that only blink when activated....other wise they are off....and only have small little orange side marker type lights on the front corners.

i was thinking about making the 3157 bulbs in the turn signals *the large blubs* and making them only come on when the turn signal is actived, other wise they will be off all together. and just having hte small corner 194 bulb be my "parking lights".....what do you guys think of this...i'm just trying to be unique with my explorer...

well i see many jeeps in my area that go around with the type of thing i'm talking about doing...not sure if you seeing the model of jeeps i'm speaking of....but they have just a smaller orange light for a parking lamp....then when they turn, the bigger bottom turn signal comes on

not saying they aren't legal...but it seems like it would be ok....still have turn signals...and parking lamps..no?

but i'll see what they say

yea thats the one i do believe

New Toyota Tacoma's are set up like that too. There are small amber lights up next to the headlights which serve as the parking lights. The turn signals are in the bumper and only com on when the turn signals are on. I don't think there will be any problems with legality as long as the single 194 lamp in the cormer is bright enough to be noticed and acknowledged as the front end of a vehicle when your headlights are off.

The problem I forsee is knocking the turn signal flasher out of whack. The flasher would speed up or even stay on, due to less resistance...It would be like having a burnt out bulb.:(
