Turn signal problem

Hi,
Today I took my 98 explorer for a drive and realized the left and right turn signals do not work. When I turn on the hazards, only the right side works. Recently, about a two weeks ago I had a 4 channel amp installed for my speakers by Best Buy. I know my turn signals did work a week ago. I had my fuses checked today and the mechanic said they were fine but I plan on checking them again myself. Any thoughts?

Did you see if the bulbs are making contact in their sockets?

I found the problem. When I raise my steering wheel the signals work but when I lower the steering wheel, the signals stop working. Any thoughts?

That would indicate a broken or shorted wire in the steering column or a loose connection in one of the connectors.
