Hi im a new member to the forum. I've had my truck for a little over a year fixing all the issues it came with. Now that i got it running pretty good I would like to start upgrading it into a good truck for alaska. Mostly planning to use it for camping with the family and exploring, with some hunting and fishing in between. Id like to get some in put from you guys on what do do to make this truck great and how to do it. Its not no beauty queen but shes mine.

Great idea! There are some good examples of expedition vehicles based on the Sport Trac. There was a guy in my area that did one and toured much of Mexico and Central America with it over 3 years. I know he sold it about a year ago, so I haven't noticed him around since then.

There's more overlanding/off-road stuff associated with the traditional Explorers, but much of what works for them works for (or is adaptable to) the Sport Trac.

Also, try looking at Expedition Portal - The global resource for overland and adventure travel. which is targeted specifically at overlanding. That may give you a good idea of what you need to focus on. Since you mentioned family in your post, I'm going to assume the cab will be used by people. To me, that tells me an off-road type trailer may be something you'll want to look at seriously.

Also, try looking at examples of Sport Tracs on Pinterest too.

If you go ahead, do post photos, or links to your work here too. Below is a Sport Trac a guy in Iceland did. That's got to be pretty close to what you'll see in Alaska, right?

Good luck,

The plan is to build it to go just about anywhere while still being able to be my dailey driver. Overlanding sounds expensive and im just a humble hillbilly on a budget that got lucky enough to get orders to alaska haha. I still cant figure out how im going to fight a moose in the back haha.
